Features and Uses of Low Carbon Steel

A general purpose 'engineering' steel ideally suited for those situations where tough, ductile, easy to machine steel is required but where the properties conferred by the use of tools steels or heat treatment are not required.

Typical applications include die plates, fixtures, jigs, machine parts, patterns, punch pads, stripper plates and templates.

Available Forms

Heat Treatment

If desired, Low Carbon can be either carburised or case hardened using standard heat treatments. When applied to this grade, both processes produce satisfactory surface hardening results.
