Since 1776 the name of Sanderson has been associated with high quality steels. The company has always been at the centre of the steel industry not just in the Sheffield area but throughout the world. With many of its former employees having themselves set up companies which have become industry names. The Company's Newhall Road site has been continually employed in the production and processing of iron and steel since 1585. The history of Sanderson Special Steels can be traced back through two well-known Sheffield firms, Sanderson Brothers and Newbould Ltd. (Est. 1776) and Kayser Ellison and Co. (Est. 1825). We are making available the text extracted from two special issues of the Sanderson Kayser magazine published during the 1970's. These detail the history of iron (and steel) processing at the company's present Sheffield site and give insights into the roots of the current company. BI-CENTENARY ISSUE 1776 - 1976 Note: These exclude the photographs, reproduction advertisements and other illustrations of the originals. Printable versions will be made available from the downloads page. |
